Australia's Biggest Beer & BBQ Fest Is Heading To Mount Gambier In 2024

Since its inception in 2015, the annual Adelaide Beer & BBQ Festival has grown into the largest event of its kind across Australia. Today, the Beer & BBQ Fest announces that it is hitting the road in the summer of 2024 to South Australia's Limestone Coast for the inaugural South East Beer & BBQ Fest in Mount Gambier!

The South East Beer & BBQ Festival (SEBBF) will take place at Mt Gambier's Railway Lands over the 2024 March long-weekend - Saturday, March 9th and Sunday, March 10th - and will be headlined by none other than The Smith Street Band (VIC), Regurgitator (QLD), Bad // Dreems (SA) and Magic Dirt (VIC). Running from 12pm 'til 10:30pm each day, each event is a separate festival of its own, with Saturday being an 18+ affair and the Sunday is family-friendly, both packed with a smorgasbord of the best beers, not-beers, mouthwatering BBQ and live entertainment from across the country!

THE BEER

The South East Beer & BBQ Fest will bring a lineup of brewers to Mt Gambier rarely assembled outside of capital cities. The first announcement of local heroes and national tastemakers include; Adelaide stalwarts such as Pirate Life, Big Shed and Mismatch, as well as cutting edge interstate brewers such as Sydney's Bracket Brewing and Melbourne's The Mill and Sure Brewing will be brining kegs to Mt Gambier for the very first time, and Limestone Coast's finest including Woolstore, Loophole and Little Rippa. The full lineup will be released in three parts and there will be plenty of 'not-beer' available also.


THE BBQ

Beer & BBQ Festival's BBQ curator Alana Brabin, has teamed up with arguably the South East's best chef Kirby Shearing, to bring you a lineup of BBQ that will keep your stomach from rumbling! Classic USA low and slow by Melbourne legends Burn City Smokers, SA's best newcomers after a fiery debut in Adelaide in 2023, Smokey Uppercuts (Whyalla) and Mt Gambier's own Lumberjack's BBQ will be joining the fun. There's a very special collaboration between Kirby and Alana themselves and their teams behind Big Bad Wolf and Elementary by Soul Co plus a rock star collab between Pirate Life Kitchen's Rocky Oliveria and the team behind Australia's best beef, Mayura Station. Filipino BBQ by Sydney's Hoy Pinoy will be along and Adelaide's best fried chicken, Cheekies Hot Chicken slinging bird all weekend. There is also host of Limestone Coast legends yet to be announced including vegetarian and vegan BBQ. 

 

THE MUSIC

In the first of three lineup drops across two stages SEBBF is proud to announce some massive talent; headlining Saturday March 9th will be the all-conquering and hard touring The Smith Street Band, garage rock with a healthy dose of social commentary from Bad//Dreems, Melbourne's The Pretty Littles, Adelaide's Blush & LOLA, and Mt Gambian groove disciples Sexy As Shit. Sunday will see Aussie ARIA award-winning icons Regurgitator headline alongside Geelong's seminal Magic Dirt, from the APY Lands rising hip hop stars, and fresh off winning five gongs at the South Australian Music Awards, DEM MOB, electro upstarts Tonix, Adelaide's Street Legal and Mums Favourite plus local heroes Stokes. The whole thing is hosted by Beer & BBQ Fest royalty, Double J's country outlaw Mr Henry Wagons (who'll also be strumming some tunes).


THE FESTIVAL

The South East Beer & BBQ Festival is much more than meat, beer and music. The inaugural SEBBF experience will also roll out BMX and skating demonstrations, the Southern Steak Showdown & Backyard BBQ Championships, masterclass panel talks with brewers and chefs, a hot dog eating contest, axe throwing, a tattoo parlour, markets, a silent disco and the iconic Beer Bod Wet T-Shirt Competition will make its regional debut!
